Nike – History and Hype

I want to start this article with a bit of history. Nike was created by Bill Bowerman, a track-and-field coach, and his former student Phil Knight. They started from a little retailer store and launched the brand in 1972. The company was renamed Nike in 1978, and until the end of 21-century, it had retail shops and outlets in more than 170 countries. We should not forget their website, which is probably the most profitable website for clothes in the world!

Nike is so big that it bought some famous sports companies, like Converse, Umbro, Cole Haan. Nike was created from athletes for athletes. The main goal was to serve people, practicing almost every kind of sport, even dancing. Phil Knight said: An athlete is everyone who has a body. He believed that every one of us could do sports. Doesn’t matter how big, tall, fat, slim or what race or what shape. He believed in the power of humanity.

Let’s be real, Nike is the biggest cloth company in the world. Yes, I said it, and it’s 100 % true. Tell me, who do you think is bigger than Nike? I don’t think you can give me an example. Nike is hype. Nike is a trend. Nike is a religion.

Nike – the Biggest Hype in the World

I’m saying it now, and I can say it a thousand times again and again. Nike is the biggest hype in men’s fashion. Think about it. From babies to the incredible older adults, I mean the very late ages, you can see them wearing Nike, top to bottom. Can you tell me another brand doing this? I don’t think so. People are so obsessed with the Nike trend you can’t imagine. I had the opportunity to work for Nike for a while, so I know better than anyone what Nike means to people. Nike means everything to them. Believe there are people waking up every day, going into the SNKRS Nike app, and going for a lottery, which can guarantee them exclusive access to a limited pair of sneakers – trying day by day, even year after year. All of that for a pair of shoes! Other people would not go running if they didn’t activate their Nike running app to see the progress day by day.

Some people would check every day until they find their size is back in stock again. People would go crazy for different models and go crazy about Nike being represented by the biggest athletes, something I will talk about later. Nike had a commercial, delivering your gold shoes, by a gold Lamborghini, by one of the biggest NBA players in the history of basketball. Nike had Chance the rapper, rapping exclusively for a commercial, which will make you speechless.

Legend Models and Technology From the Future

Nike deserves every piece of its glory. The most legendary sport model shoes are all Nike.

  • Air Force 1
  • Air Max
  • Huarache
  • Jordon
  • Air Zoom
  • Kyrie
  • Nike Phantom
  • Metcon

I can go on for a while now, but those are just the most popular and modern in the last years. You can go check them out. Another thing that separates Nike from the rest is that you can customize different models with the color you like. You can put your name or your favorite number, or whatever letter you want. There is no bigger flex than that! Also, Nike won the big game against Adidas and won an 8-year deal with NBA beginning with 2017-2018, and this was not by accident.

Nike technologies are unmatched by anyone else in the market. Let’s divide the shoes into three parts – bottom, upper, and middle part. The bottom part technologies, like the air bubble, is absolutely the best. You can feel the comfort, and you can feel how light your legs feel. The Air zoom for running is the same but for runners. You can run for hours and never feel tired. While working for Nike, I had a lot of customers who were buying a special Nike model for the London marathon. And I asked why? All of them shared the same opinion. With those very same models, you can run for 40-50 km, and you won’t feel tired. Your legs feel like you can run forever. These technologies have existed for a long time, but because they advanced so much, people really recognized them by running with Nike and nothing else. How crazy is that?

Who Represents Nike?

Here I want to start with my favorite athlete of all times – Michael Jordan. For me, there was never a question about who’s the GOAT in NBA. It was, and it always will be Jordon. And of course, Jordon is the Nike special brand for basketball shoes. Not only this, but it’s also the biggest athlete-collaborated brand in the world. Who didn’t wear at least once Jordon shoes? Be honest with me, and if you are not, I’m sure you always wanted to have a sweet piece of some Jordan’s.

Let’s continue with Rafael Nadal and his matador collaboration with Nike. His passion while playing on the court is unmatched. His aggression, his roars, his moves, and of course, his tennis collection. So classy, so beautiful.

Also, Tiger Woods – the richest athlete in the world with an entire golf collection. And of course, Cristiano Ronaldo. If not the best, one of the best football players of all time. They are only a few athletes with lifetime Nike contracts for over a billion dollars. And Ronaldo is one of them. So imagine his influence and influence that Nike, like a brand, as a hype it has.
